What is an astronomical unit?
An astronomical unit, abbreviated AU, is about 150 million kilometres. It is a reference unit for distances within the Solar System and approximately matches the average distance between Earth and the Sun.
How far is Neptune from the Sun?
Neptune is about 4.5 billion kilometres from the Sun on average, or roughly 30 astronomical units. It is therefore approximately thirty times farther from the Sun than Earth is.
