What is inside Earth?
Earth’s interior consists of the crust, mantle and core. The core has a liquid outer core and a solid inner core. A cross-section helps locate these different layers.
Is Earth’s mantle entirely liquid?
No. The mantle consists mainly of solid rock. It can deform and flow very slowly over geological timescales. It should therefore not be confused with an ocean of magma.
